Cafe Tu Tu Tango is a funky retreat housing some vividly colored decor, reminiscent of a Saharan oasis retreat; the atmosphere reflects the eclectic menu.
Kids and adults alike are entertained by various performances (including everything from sword-eating and tarot readings, to belly dancing to live painting), and since this is a party atmosphere, they won't have to be constrained to a whisper.
But most importantly each evening there are three working artists in the restaurant from 7pm to 11pm, creating works of art to be displayed for sale on the walls and ledges of the restaurant. On any given night you might see painters, sculptors, stained glass cutters, ceramicists, and The Egg Man, with hand painted eggs of solid wood.
This really is party-time all the time!
The kitchen serves tapas, which are intentionally on the small side and meant to be sampled by everyone at the table. The multiethnic menu features chips, dips, breads and spreads, as well as soups, salads, fried delicacies, turnovers and Oriental rolls. There are brochettes and kabobs, pizzas and a varied array of chicken wings, paella, barbecued ribs, seafood and quesadillas.
Try the Cajun egg rolls, filled with blackened chicken, corn and cheddar and goat cheeses, and served with chunky tomato salsa and Creole mustard, or the pepper-crusted, seared tuna sashimi with crispy rice noodles and cold spinach in a sesame-soy vinaigrette.
The dessert menu includes a creamy amaretto flan and rich guava cheesecake with strawberry sauce.
