At first glance, you'll recognize that Ming Court is not your typical Chinese eatery.
Green arched roofs peer over a mock Wall of China that surrounds restaurant -- protecting it from the noise and bustle of International Drive.
A bridge-like walkway leads guests over a tranquil koi pond and into an elegant foyer.
View the serpentine cloud wall crowned by engraved sea-green Chinese tiles in the entryway and you know you've entered an exceptional Chinese restaurant.
The interior is softly lit with candles while glass-walled terrace rooms overlooking a lotus pond filled with colorful koi add to the mood. Ming Court's innovative menu offers specialties from diverse regions of China, and often features fresh Florida seafood.
The fast and friendly service tends to back up when conventioneers take over the I-Drive strip.
Request a dim sum menu upon seating and choose from selections like chicken and rice cooked in a lotus leaf or steamed chicken buns. Or begin with a variety of appetizers such as wok-charred Mandarin pot stickers, crispy wontons stuffed with vegetables and cream cheese, and wok-smoked shiitake mushrooms topped with sautéed scallions. The entrées, including a deep-fried chicken breast served with a delicate lemon-tangerine sauce, are as entrancing as the decor.
At night, Chinese musicians play traditional melodies on antique instruments, including a dulicmar and a zheng.
